Battlefield 3 M416 Guide
In this Battlefield 3 M416 guide, I will be going over the basic
information for the BF3 M416 as well as revealing the strengths, weaknesses, and best attachments for this
gun.
Battlefield 3 M416 Overview
Ammo: 30 rounds
Rate of Fire: 750 RPM
Faction: Both
Fire Modes: Automatic (default) and Semi-Automatic.
The Battlefield 3 M416 is the first new gun that you unlock specific to the Assault Kit. It is a lot like the
M16A3 in that it uses the same type of ammo, but it fires a little bit slower and has a lot less kickback.
Compared to the starting weapons for assault players, this really outshines them in shorter ranged fights. I
find it to be markedly better on close and short-ranged combat, such as in the metro station and terminal at
Operation Metro.
It is not particularly good from range however, as I do not find it any more accurate than the M16A3 and it is
very hard to get a head shot unless you have plenty of time to line-up (and even then it can be inaccurate from a
distance).
BF3 M416 Strengths
I really think that this gun is a great Assault Rifle to shoot from the hip. It is practically on par with
submachine guns at close-quarters combat (losing only to the shotgun in head-on fights), as you can shoot from the
hip and have every bullet hit without a problem. The Vertical Climb is significantly lower than the M16A3 or
AK-74M, which can be difficult to control when firing multiple shots at once.

As a result, I think this gun is perfect for situations where you are mixing close-quarters combat with
mid-ranged combat, such as during the metro portion of Operation Metro. It is definitely one of the strongest guns
at that spot on the map.
Battlefield 3 M416 Weaknesses
On the other hand, the gun also does have the weakness of not being very powerful from a long range. You have to
get head shots if you want to take out an opponent from a distance, which means you are either going to have to do
a ton of practicing with this gun or get lucky if you actually want to hit someone from across a large room.
Best Battlefield 3 M416 Set Up
I think that in order to give maximize the strengths of this weapon, you should augment its ability to fire
rapidly with low kickback. You could add a foregrip to reduce its horizontal kickback to virtually nothing, as well
as add a laser site to help you aim.
You could either add on a scope or some sort of detector for Optics, depending on what you want to do. Aiming is
necessary for taking out players at mid-range, but if any player is so far away that you will have to zoom in 4x+
to see them closely, this gun really is not all that great at that anyway. As a result, you may want to use an
infrared detector so you can sneak up on people better and only shoot at players far away when you have the jump or
if they are using a shotgun.
Battlefield 3 M416 Guide Conclusion
The Battlefield 3 M416 is a great weapon to use when you leverage its strengths. In any close-quarters situation
combat where there are not an abundance of shotguns, this weapon is excellent. You can take out players in close
quarters very effectively by shooting at the hip and then be just as effective from range by aiming for the
head.
