Battlefield 3 Optics List
In this Battlefield 3 Optics list, I will be going over all of the
sight attachments you can add to your weapon in Battlefield 3. All of the optic attachments have different
functions and as a result, each one goes best with certain weapons and weapon attachment combinations.
You can unlock an additional weapon attachment by getting 10-30 kills. Each scope or sight has to be unlocked
independently on that particular gun. Optics are listed in alphabetical order, not unlock order.
Below, you will find an overview of each weapon attachment with a general description of what it does. Over time
we will be adding specific articles on each scope, which will discuss the best strategies and combos.
- ACOG - Standard 4x magnification scope and the first one to unlock on Assault Rifles. Provides decent
magnification but scope itself takes up a lot of screen space. Be sure to watch the outsides of your lense for
targets entering your field of vision as well as looking through the scope.

- Ballistic - At 12x magnification, this is the most powerful scope in the game and is used by high powered
sniper rifles. The 12x magnification can make it a bit unwieldy to use. It works good at places like Tehran
Highway where you have extremely long highways.
- Holographic - An optics attachment which makes aiming very easy. Frees up a lot of space on the screen to
see targets. Fast to use, but offers no magnification. Best for short and mid-ranged combat.
- IRNV - This is an infrared scope which detects heat. Works well in
dark rooms or when spotting enemies through the brush. It offers no magnification and can be hard to steady.
Works best on maps with a lot of foliage.
- Kobra - The Russian red dot sight. It offers less field of vision than the PKA-S, but is a bit better at
getting headshots - just put the dot directly on your opponents head. Like all red dot sights, it gives no
magnification.
- M145 - The M145 is a 3.4x magnification scope and is used on Light Machine Guns. US faction.
- PK-A - The PK-A is just like the M145 but for the Russian faction. It offers 3.4x magnification and is for
Light Machine Guns.
- PKA-S - This HOLO scope is just like the Holographic scope, except it
is for Russian-made weapons. Works well at close and mid-range combat. Does not hinder field of vision.
- PKS-07 - A 7x magnification Sniper Scope. This Russian scope can be beneficial on small Team Deathmatch
maps where 8+ magnification may feel like too much.
- PSO-1 - The ACOG scope of the Russians. A standard 4x magnification scope which blocks up a lot of your
view, but does provide enough zoom to max out the range of an Assault Rifle.
- Reflex - The US version of the Kobra. Good for mid-ranged combat as it makes lining up for headshots from a
distance a lot easier.
- Rifle Scope - The Rifle Scope comes in 6x and 8x magnification varities and of course is for Sniper Rifles.
You can pick the scope with less zoom for small maps and grab the more powerful scope for bigger maps.
Battlefield 3 Optics List Conclusion
You have access to quite a bit of optic attachments in Battlefield 3, and selecting the right one can be a huge
advantage. Alaways remember that the more magnfication is not necessarily better.
While a more powerful scope can help you make more accurate shots, you also have to consider that more powerful
scopes offer a smaller field of vision, make aiming slower, and can limit your ability to track targets.
