The SCAR-H is one of the guns unlockable as part of the Engineer kit. You can pick it up by leveling up the
Engineer kit (play matches, get kills and use machinery while playing as an Engineer to level up). This Carbine has
some interesting properties and it is one of the most popular guns in game.
Strengths
The primary strength of the Battlefield 3 SCAR-H is that it fire powerful bullets. The ammo is large, so it does
quite a bit of damage on hit and is fairly accurate. Since it is also a Carbine, it is good at short-ranged combat
by default. This is one of the few guns in the game which is quite good at both short and mid-ranged combat
(despite what the tooltips may say).

Weaknesses
Of course, it wouldn't be fair for the SCAR-H to be good at both short and mid-ranged combat without a downside.
The major downside of this weapon is its very small clip. It fires accurately and powerfully from the hip, but it
depletes itself nearly instantly: at 600 rounds per minute (10 per second), the SCAR-H can only fire its fully
automatic setting for two seconds!
For good players, this is not a problem - its powerful bullets mean that you need less bullets to get done the
same amount of work when compared to other Carbines. You just have to be a little bit more careful about where you
aim. You also want to fire in small bursts whenever you are aiming at a target.
Battlefield 3 SCAR-H Strategies and Attachments
Since the SCAR-H has such a small clip, it is important that you can get the most out of its bullets. One way
you can do this is through the Extended Mag attachment. This of course means you have to give up the Underslung
Rail, Tactical Light, Foregrip, or Laser Sight though. Depending on the map and if you are good at staying
alive, I think it just might be worth the sacrifice.
Another good idea is to actually use a scope with zoom when using this weapon. This is probably the only
Engineer weapon I would put a scope on. You really need it, at least until you get the Extended Mag add-on. You
need to make the most out of your bullets and a little zoom does not hurt, especially if you are relatively new to
the weapon and game. As you get better at Battlefield 3, you can always swap out your scope for something else.
Battlefield 3 SCAR-H Guide Conclusion
Really the bottom line of using the SCAR-H is that you have to make the most use out of its bullets. It is one
of few carbines that can actually fire meaningful shots from mid-range against players using Assault Rifles or
Light Machine Guns.
It is good for any Engineer who wishes he had something with a little more range than some of the short-range
Carbines this class typically gets.
