Battlefield 3 T-UGS Sensor

Click Here to Visit Relik GuideThe Battlefield 3 Tactical Unattended Ground Sensor (T-UGS) is arguably one of best gadgets in the game. It is not quite as strong as the radar mines from Battlefield 2, but it is still pretty good.

In this Battlefield 3 T-UGS guide, we will be covering all there is to know about this sensor starting with what it does, covering what it does, and finishing with the best strategies for using it.

Battlefield 3 T-UGS Overview

The T-UGS is a sensor you can place on the ground which detects enemy players. When enemy players come into its range, they will appear on the radar mini-map. This makes it easy to spot people who are trying to sneak up on you.

However, the T-UGS does have its limitations. Other players can shoot it and destroy it. Additionally, it does not pick up players who are crouching or prone. Players who crouch or prone will when in its range will very quickly disappear off of the radar screen.

How to Get the T-UGS

The T-UGS can be used by Recon Kit players only and is one of the basic items. It can only be used by Recon Kit players.

T-UGS Strategy

I like to think that the T-UGS is one of the best Battlefield 3 gadgets simply because it lets you know where other players are, which is incredibly useful. There are a lot of different ways you can use this device.

The first way, which is what most people will use, is as a way to protect yourself from getting flanked. When someone destroys a claymore, you get no warning, but when someone encounters a T-UGS, they will at least briefly appear on the mini-map until they can crouch or destroy it.

The T-UGS is most effective when you surprise your enemy with it or they do not know it is there. As an example, if you are protecting your flank with it, you will want to throw it in a blind spot so that players cannot see it until it is too late to dodge. An example would be up against a wall as soon as soon as you turn a corner.

Another thing you can do with the Battlefield 3 T-UGS is to throw it out beyond a corner in order to see if anyone is around the corner. If someone is immediately around the corner, they will pop up on the mini-map. Additionally, no one will approach without first taking it out. If you see the T-UGS get destroyed, you know someone is about to round the corner.

Knowing whether or not someone is to be expected drastically improves your performance. Studies have shown that when we expect something to appear, a part of the brain lights up and starts dedicating a lot of resources to the appearance of the expected object.

To clarify, the T-UGS will let us know when we know a player is about to come around a corner, either via the radar or by the enemy player destroying it. Once our brain receives this signal, it is primed to see and react to an enemy player rounding the corner, allowing you to react quicker and take them out quickly.

Battlefield 3 T-UGS Conclusion

The T-UGS does have a few more limitations than the radar mine from Battlefield 2 Bad Company, but it is still a great item. Just make sure you try to hide it a bit so players are not able to take it out before it does its job. Also be sure to keep an eye on your radar as players who get tagged by the T-UGS do not appear there for long!
